#AYearOfBuses 188: North Greenwich – Russell Square

Today’s winner on #AYearOfBuses is an iconic London bus route, connecting the Greenwich peninsula with the South Bank and London’s West End.

Go-Ahead London Central’s 188 has to be one of London’s most feature-packed bus routes. Starting from North Greenwich, by the O2 and Emirates Air Line, it winds its way alongside the Thames past the Cutty Sark and the National Maritime Museum, through Deptford and Rotherhithe, and on to the Elephant & Castle.

From there, it veers northwards, up to Waterloo and the South Bank, before crossing the Thames at Waterloo Bridge over to the Aldwych and Holborn, before finishing at Russell Square, close to the British Museum.

The 188 runs 24 hours a day, with buses every 8-12 mins through the daytime.
