#AYearOfBuses 178: X78 Sheffield – Doncaster

We’re taking a look at one of First South Yorkshire’s interurban express routes today on #AYearOfBuses – the X78.

Since Sheffield Supertram’s tram-train link opened between the city and nearby Rotherham, First South Yorkshire’s X78 – along with the more frequent SteelLink X1 and X10 – has been locked in battle.

First are attempting to fend off competition from the new tram-train link between Sheffield, Meadowhall and Rotherham by flooding the market with buses, featuring leather seats, free WiFi and USB power. The X78 runs every 12 mins between Sheffield, Meadowhall and Rotherham, and on to Conisbrough and Doncaster.
