Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancs’ cross-border route 79 is our winner today on #AYearOfBuses.
From the traditional market town of Dumfries, in Galloway, Scotland, the 79 takes a picturesque stride down to Annan and across the border to the city of Carlisle. From Dumfries, it takes the B724, a stunning route lined with Scottish Pine and incredible views across the Scottish countryside.
Of particular note along the route (save for the spectacular, typically-Scottish scenery you’ll find) is the town of Annan. Standing on the edges of the River Annan, the town’s public buildings include Annan Academy, of which the writer Thomas Carlyle was a pupil.
