#AYearOfBuses49: TransWilts Express Trowbridge – Devizes – Swindon

It’s day 49, and we’re taking a trip into deepest Wiltshire today on #AYearOfBuses.

Stagecoach in Swindon’s TransWilts Express 49 links the county town of Trowbridge with Devizes and Swindon, making its way through some of England’s most beautiful scenery, including Fyfield Down nature reserve.

Running every hour and with an end-to-end journey time of around 1hr 20mins, the 49 is home to a fleet of branded Scania double deckers, fitted with high-backed coach seats, perfect for gazing out from the top deck across the Wiltshire plains.

The TransWilts Express’ main competition is the train, which completes the journey in around 40 mins – but don’t be fooled by the title. The 49 isn’t much of a traditional ‘Express’ – instead, it’s a perfect stroll through glorious countryside and market towns alike – including Devizes, which hosts a spectacular market each Thursday.
