#AYearOfBuses 343: Friern Barnet – London Bridge

Today’s day 343 on #AYearOfBuses, and we’re taking a look at the 43 – London’s first all-electric double decker bus route.

Courtesy of Metroline, the 43 became London’s first all-electric double deck bus route back in July 2019, when the operator launched a fleet of ADL Enviro400City-bodied BYD electric ‘deckers running from its Holloway garage.

The 43 itself has had its fair share of interesting stories over the years, too! It ran along what was London Transport’s first ‘red route’ bus priority clearway, with peak hour buses from 1992 running as the X43 with its own fleet of Scanias attractively branded as ‘RedExpress’.
