#AYearOfBuses 296: Manchester – Simister

One of Manchester’s most established bus routes, the 96 is today’s winner on #AYearOfBuses.

Though it’s been through several variations over the years, including running as a cross-city route between Didsbury and Whitefield, the 96 is best known for linking the city centre with Prestwich and Simister – home to the gargantuan motorway junction where the M60 meets the M62 and M66.

The 96 was also once home to a small fleet of fairly rare and quirky UVG Urbanstar-bodied Dennis Darts operated by Bu-Val Buses, complete with funky high-level rounded indicator lights either side of the desti!
