#AYearOfBuses 166: X66 Metrocentre – Gateshead

Today’s winner on #AYearOfBuses comes with its own family of colourful gnomes!

Go North East’s Metrocentre shuttle, the X66, runs every few minutes between Gateshead Interchange and the intu Metrocentre. It’s currently home to a fleet of navy blue branded Wright Streetlites, which feature their own array of colourful characters.

Herbert, Sherbet, Maggot and Rusty are intu Metrocentre’s very own mascots, the Metrognomes. Each X66 bus features one of the Metrognomes on the front!

The X66 enjoys a vast array of dedicated bus priority lanes and roads along its short route to the Metrocentre, which help it to complete the trip from Gateshead to the shopping centre in just 10 minutes.
