#AYearOfBuses 145: Red Kite Newcastle – Consett

There aren’t many buses you’ll find with a pair of beady eyes drilling into you as it approaches – but that’s exactly what you’re getting today on #AYearOfBuses.

Go North East’s Red Kite 45 links Consett with the Metrocentre and Newcastle’s Eldon Square bus station. A mix of single and double decker buses carry Red Kite branding for the route, featuring two huge bird’s eyes staring out from the front of each bus.

Different? Very! But we can’t help but think they might have missed a trick by not involving the light clusters in the design somehow…

Anyway, aside from that distinctive livery, Red Kite buses are packed with creature comforts, featuring next stop announcements, free WiFi, USB power and plug sockets on board.
