#AYearOfBuses 136: N136 Oxford Circus – Chislehurst

Today’s winner here on #AYearOfBuses is our very first night bus!

And it’s an interesting one, too.

The N136 is actually a night bus version of TWO daytime routes – its namesake, the 136 (run by Stagecoach), and commuter route 436 (run by Go Ahead).

During the daytime, the 136 runs between Elephant and Castle, Peckham, New Cross Gate and Catford, whilst the 436 – which only came to life in 2003 as a bendybus route – runs from Lewisham to New Cross, Peckham, Kennington Oval, Vauxhall and Battersea Park.

The N136 loosely joins up these two routes, starting in central London at Oxford Circus, before making its way through Westminster and Victoria to Pimlico and down to Vauxhall, where it picks up the 436.

Sadly, it does mean that if you’re going to attempt to ride every bus on our list this year (we’ve heard there folks planning to do so!), you’ll have to stay up pretty late to catch this one.
