Today’s winner on #AYearOfBuses is a real treat – we’re taking a look at Stagecoach’s Coastliner 700 on the South Coast.
Stagecoach South runs a collection of routes under the Coastliner 700 brand on the South Coast, forming a network snaking from Brighton to Worthing, Littlehampton, Wick, Bognor and Portsmouth. Buses run up to every 10 minutes at its core, and there’s a night bus, the N700 from Brighton to Worthing, too.
Coastliner 700 features its own, devilishly attractive adaptation of the Stagecoach livery, with a navy blue base, and a stunningly-Stenning sweep of blue rising up to the front of the ‘deckers. An orange flash coasting along the edge of the light blue creates an atmospheric, abstract beach combing the seascape – it’s possibly one of the cleverest, and most refined compliments to the standard Stagecoach livery you’re ever likely to see.
And that’s before we’ve even started on the route itself! Stretching between two of the South Coast’s largest cities, Coastliner 700 is the key to unlocking the hidden charms of West Sussex and Hampshire, including the South Downs National Park, with its wonderful picturesque towns and villages.

I dont know how to can be so enthusiastic about this route, you obviously only observed the decor of the buses rather than travelling them.
This rout as you say is called the Coastliner, which it does follow but the rout has now been split up into three sections. So to travel from Brighton to Portsmouth is now all three sections with two sometimes three changes.
Each section now also has had parts of each route changed, so they now run through every Bungalow retirement estate with bus stops sometimes on 2/3 hundred metres apart. due to increased coastal traffic they always run late and in 2’s or even 3s.
The Coastliner name needs to be changed.
