Today’s winner on #AYearOfBuses is a long-established bus route, now operated by a newcomer to Greater Manchester!
Manchester’s route 41 has a long and distinguished history, though in recent years has been changed, extended and re-routed beyond almost all recognition – save for the stalwart section between Sale and Manchester city centre.
A one-time Finglands – and then First Manchester route after the sale of Rusholme depot – it’s now in the hands of newcomer to the scene, Go North West. Though it runs along Wilmslow Road, at the core of the 41 has always been the link between the suburbs of south Manchester and the city, having previously run as far as Altrincham.
Now, it provides a north-south cross-city link, running as far as Higher Blackley and Middleton in the north of the city.
