#AYearOfBuses 299: VT99 Milton Keynes – Luton Airport

Time for something a little different! Today’s winner on #AYearOfBuses still technically exists, but it’s a shadow of its former self.

Stagecoach’s VT99 (now the plain old 99) linked Central Milton Keynes with Luton and Luton Airport. Run in collaboration with Stagecoach Group bedfellows Virgin Trains, a small fleet of coaches wore the attractive, swooped livery of the rail operator.

It gave us an insight into what might have been, had Virgin decided to enter the UK coach market! Earlier versions of the livery even featured a yellow ‘bib’ to mimic Virgin Trains’ Pendolinos.

There was also a Bromsgrove – Redditch – Birmingham International VT coach – can’t remember the number though.

I don’t think it was ever that well used and didn’t last very long
