#AYearOfBuses 280: Preston – Skipton

A recently-saved bus route linking Lancashire with North Yorkshire is today’s winner on #AYearOfBuses.

Starting at Preston’s brutalist Grade-II listed bus station, the 280, from Stagecoach (yes, we know it’s a Preston Bus in the pic) takes a scenic saunter across the rolling countryside of Lancashire and the Ribble Valley.

Along the way to Skipton, the 280 visits Clitheroe, with its ruined medieval castle, and the towns of Barnoldswick and Earby, nestled along the Lancashire and Yorkshire border.

Stagecoach recently stepped in (with funding from Lancashire County Council) to save the 280 after it was put to the sword by Preston Bus, who previously ran the route commercially.
