Today on #AYearOfBuses, we’re taking a look at a bus route with a difference – a stately home!
Coastliner’s 181 – or CastleLine, as it’ll become from 7 July – links the walled city of York with the market town of Malton, and the spectacular stately home sandwiched between them – Castle Howard.
It’s one of Yorkshire’s finest stately homes, home to the Carlisle branch of the Howard family for more than 300 years and filled with ornate interiors and immaculate gardens. CastleLine stops right inside the grounds of Castle Howard, passing right through the famous entrance gate.
CastleLine is about to receive a welcome boost, with new early fast departures from York to help the tourist boom Castle Howard is currently enjoying.
