#AYearOfBuses 18: Millbrook – Southampton – Thornhill

Shining across the city of Southampton, Bluestar’s recently-upgraded 18 is our winner for today’s entry on #AYearOfBuses.

Go-Ahead Group owned Bluestar unveiled a new fleet of 19 stunning new buses dual-door for the 18 in November 2018, investing £4 million on kitting the route out with Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 City double deckers.

The new buses, which sport a distinctive look with a windowed staircase, were launched by Andrew Wickham and the Mayor of Southampton, Councillor Stephen Barnes-Andrews during an event at Guildhall Square, before entering service along the Bluestar 18 route between Millbrook and Thornhill via Shirley, the city centre and Bitterne.

Sporting yet another standout Best Impressions-designed livery, the buses feature a whole raft of onboard technology, including those usual suspects, free WiFi and USB power, as well as contactless ticketing, too.
