#AYearOfBuses 125: Preston – Bolton

It’s back to Preston’s iconic Grade II-listed bus station for day 125 on #AYearOfBuses!

Stagecoach Merseyside and Lancashire’s flagship Gold 125 links the northern city of Preston with the large southern-Lancashire towns of Chorley and Bolton using those signature luxurious, high-spec double-deck Scanias. We mentioned the 125 back on day 114 of #AYearOfBuses, adding that it loosely competes (but doesn’t really) with Preston Bus 114, which also runs between Preston and Chorley.

The 125 takes a much more direct route. With an end-to-end journey time of around 90 mins, it runs direct down the A6 through Walton-le-Dale, Bamber Bridge and Walton Summit, then down through Chorley, Horwich, and on to Bolton. On board, there’s Italian-designed Lazzarini Transito high-backed seats, finished in bold blue with complementary cream piping, and the usual array of features including free WiFi, USB power and contactless payments as standard.
