#AYearOfBuses 69: Walthamstow Central – Canning Town

It’s day 69 on #AYearOfBuses, and today, courtesy of regular photo contributor Mark Lyons, we’re taking a look at another of TfL’s routes in the Capital.

Tower Transit have three of these Alexander Dennis Enviro400VE double deckers for route 69, which were funded as part of the European Union’s Zero Emission Urban Bus System (ZeEUS). Similar to the examples in Bristol (see day 48 on #AYearOfBuses), they charge at Walthamstow Central and Canning Town bus stations using induction charging plates installed within the road surface.

Originally part of an order for 4 of these buses for Stagecoach London, the route was retendered before they were delivered, and so the small fleet now resides with Tower Transit.

Special thanks to Mark Lyons for today’s info and photos.
