#AYearOfBuses 17: X17 Matlock – Chesterfield – Sheffield – Barnsley

Gold X17

Now on its second generation of glitzy Gold-specification buses, Stagecoach Yorkshire’s X17 is today’s winner on #AYearOfBuses.

Stagecoach Yorkshire’s X17 is home to a brand new fleet of Alexander Dennis Enviro400MMCs, its second generation of Gold buses for the route. Buses run every 30 mins between Chesterfield and Sheffield, with extensions to Matlock, Meadowhall and Barnsley, too. The X17 runs fast between Barnsley and Sheffield along the M1, before dropping into Chesterfield and stunning and scenic Matlock in the heart of Derbyshire.

Launched for the first time in 2007 (as Goldline), Stagecoach’s Gold spec is designed squarely to tempt commuters out of their cars, with huge, coach-style e-leather seats, mood lighting, wood-effect flooring, free WiFi, USB power and a dedicated team of bespoke-uniformed drivers. Outside, it features that tasteful, well-refined Best Impressions-designed livery of royal blue and gold – and given that the brand is now 10 years old, it’s incredible to think that it hasn’t aged one bit.
