How easy is it to rebrand a Transpennine Express train?

185 rebrand

Ever wondered how they manage to rebrand a train so quickly?

Transpennine Express recently shared this awesome timelapse footage of one of their Class 185s undergoing a makeover.

The train is stripped to reveal its original deep blue ‘as delivered’ paintwork, before the new, silver metallic vinyl featuring Transpennine’s new ‘North Star’ design is added.

The new vinyl is being applied to 51 trains in total with the work taking place in the North of England at the Siemens Train Care Facility in Ardwick, Manchester. More than 17 miles of film will be used to cover the entire train fleet with around 180sqm being applied to each individual train, roughly the same size as a four-bed detached house.
