#AYearOfBuses 279: Gunnislake – Okehampton

Plymouth Citybus 279

We’re taking a trip down to Devon for day 279 on #AYearOfBuses, for a look at a scenic summer Sundays-only bus route.

After a three year absence, Plymouth Citybus 279 returned for summer Sundays in 2019. It runs from Gunnislake, the Cornish village close to the Devon and Cornwall border, to Okehampton on the northern edge of Dartmoor in west Devon.

Connecting with GWR trains on the Tamar Valley line to Plymouth, the 279 is the missing link in a 125-mile round trip through the Devon countryside, as described in mouthwatering detail on Roger French’s excellent blog.
